I always love trying new things that are more natural and have less chemicals in them. When I graduated college, I bought a few essential oils and have been dabbling in creating blends ever since. I have not dove deep into the essential oil world, but love watching people make blends from afar. I made my first blend when I was struggling with frequent headaches. I have made a few blends to use around the house as well. I have become more and more interested in the different oils and blends as time goes on. I have three diffusers in my house with at least one running at all times. As I was packing for vacation, I knew this was the best time to make a few more blends to take with us – in case a problem arises.
I bought a variety of glass bottles when I first became interested in essential oils so I can make up different blends. I bought glass spray bottles, dropper bottles, and roller-ball bottles. You can use whatever you have around the house – but you must use something made of glass. When I first started, I bought my oils from TJ-Maxx, but in the past six months, I have been buying my essential oils from Grove Collaborative.
For each blend, you have to experiment on how strong you like the oils to be. This will ultimately determine the recipe you use for each blend.
Peppermint and Eucalyptus
This is by far my most used blend. I went through a period of time where I was getting headaches about 3-4 times a week. (thankfully – we have figured out the cause and I am feeling much better now). I make this blend with a coconut oil based. For this blend, I use a roller bottle so I can roll this directly on my forehead and neck. I fill up the bottle 3/4 with coconut oil. Then I add 3-5 drops pf peppermint with just a few drops of eucalyptus.
Lavender and Coconut Oil
I started using this blend when I was traveling for work a lot. This helps with relaxation and strep relief. I would roll some on my neck or wrists before we took off on the plane and again each night in the hotel. For this blend I also used a roller bottle. I fill the bottle 3/4 of the way up with coconut oil and use about 10 drops of lavender.
Lemon and Orange
I use a few drops of both Lemon and Orange Essential Oils in my diffuser. I use this blend mostly in the kitchen. I like to put these in the diffuser as I am cleaning up the countertops or doing the dishes. This makes my entire kitchen smell fresh and clean.
